Clockinator v1.8 Is Here!

Wow, did February come and go that fast or what? It’s like it was only 28 days long or something.

Here at Plaid we never slowed down even for an instant. Did you know there’s a museum dedicated to Bigfoot in our hometown of Boring? But this is about v1.8. I’ve said too much.

Clockinator v1.8 now has 24 different clock faces, with hundreds of combinations, developed by independent artists from all over the place. The newest faces include dancing clowns in Clown Gymnastics, black and white story telling that is anything but plain in Starlight Fairytale, a trip to the outer limits in our new Space clock face, and we’ve ripped the wallper right off the walls over at gramma’s house in Over the River.

v1.8 ships worldwide on March 8, 2022. So sit back, enjoy watching the time pass. I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for v1.9 and beyond…

Clockinator’s Clown Gymnastics Face

4 Clown Gymnastics Clock Faces

Clown Gymnastics proves that all clowns are not scary. Some bounce around and contort into numerical shapes so that we can enjoy a brightly colored time piece.

And you can’t have happy clowns without clown cars! Keep an eye on the clown car with the yellow bits, it’s the actual seconds indicator, leaping ahead every five seconds, taking a full minute to go back and forth across the screen. The other clown cars just do what clown cars do. Back and forth, with little or no direction.

Clockinator’s Over the River Face

4 Over the River Clock Faces

Over the River and through the woods, as the song goes. We used the wallpaper from Grandmother’s House to make this face.

Revel in the old-timey naturific patterns and the faded colors. This clock makes a great calming addition to all of the bright colors introduced in some of the others! Choose your favorite from Beige, Brown, Purple, Gray, and White by tapping once on the screen to open the settings. From there your favorite muted color is just a tap away.

The patterns (and many more) can be found in BeLight Software’s Art Text 4 app. Over the River was designed and coded by @Pumasalad for Plaid, Inc.

Clockinator v1.8 with Over the River ships worldwide on March 8, 2022.

Clockinator’s Space Face

4 Space Clock Faces

Space answers the long riddled question, “if there are UFOs, what would they look like as part of a clock?” Watch for satellites, astronauts, and little green (or purple) people floating around their respective planets. And conveniently, each planet comes with a number to help us tell the time.

Be sure and turn on the second hand for this one. Every fifth second has a tiny ring around it, to help you keep up with passing time.

Clockinator’s Starlight Fairytale Face

4 Starlight Fairytale Clock Faces

Full of whimsy and fun, Starlight Fairytale takes you to a land of magic. The playful numbers evoke the sweet wonder of childhood dreams, where tall towers and mystic stars are all contained within! A new story written in each combination of numbers, Starlight Fairytale has endless tales to share.

4 Starlight Fairytale Clock Faces

This is Clockinator’s first monochromatic clock face. All black and white, all the time. Or if your iDevice is in light mode, I suppose it is all white and black.

Original pen and ink artwork is by @marbirds. See more of her work on her instagram account.

Clockinator v1.8 with Starlight Fairytale ships worldwide on March 8, 2022.

App of the Month Club

Clockinator was named the “App of the Month” by @appledevs_lab!

@appledevs_lab App of the Month for February '22

We’d like to thank our director, the independent artists who’ve created over 20 faces for the app, and our little dog for keeping us sane throughout the whole process of creating and maintaining this fancy clock. But most of all, we’d like to thank you, our fans, for downloading it and believing in us. Oh, and a big thanks to Apple Dev’s Lab for choosing us this month!

There’s still a lot more to come. We already have two new clock faces mostly developed and a third one well on it’s way. We will be updating again probably during the first couple of weeks of March. Spring, after all, is just around the corner.

Welcoming Winter

Here in Boring, Oregon, it’s winter. And what better way to celebrate winter than to curl up in a blanket with a cup of cocoa and stare at a clock that features winter scenes?

Here comes Clockinator v. 1.7 with all the winter you can stand. Whether it’s Snow People in the shape of clock digits, or just finger writing in the snow, Clockinator has you covered. Throw in some dramatic winter scenery and you’ve just about got everything you need.

Four new clock faces are included in this update, more details about each one are available by tapping on the clocks below.
