Updates to Clockinator Pro Coming Soon
Watching the Clock
We’ve been hard at work adding some of the most requested features to Clockinator Pro. Thanks to your suggestions and feedback, we’re putting the finishing touches on a collection of new additions designed to make the app even more useful and fun. The gears are still turning, final testing is underway, and it won’t be long before these new features arrive.
Calendar Support
See at a glance on your clock if you have anything scheduled for the next 12 to 24 hours in your Apple Calendar. You’ll have full control over which of your calendars to display, and whether you want to see 12 or 24 hours in advance. It even has options for different color schemes, based on your calendars or based on the current clock face.
Visual Alarms, Baby!
Finally arriving for the first time ever in any Clockinator project, Alarms! Alarms in 3 different flavors:
- Alarms: set for a specific time and day for one time only or repeating.
- Timers: count down any combination of hours, minutes and seconds.
- Day: pick a date and have a countdown that shows how many days until it arrives (popular with birthdays, Christmas, and Halloween).
“What is a visual alarm,” you ask? Well you know we wouldn’t stop here at Plaidapps with a simple noise maker. A Visual Alarm wiggles, shakes, cajoles, flashes and explodes the face of the clock when the alarms go off. It will ship with four options: Badge Only, Cascade, Zoomies, and Coffee. Every alarm can be set to have independent audio and visuals, including none of either. Which means the badge in the corner would just go away when the time comes.
Clock Sync
A brand new feature I’m really excited about is Clock Sync. If you have multiple copies of Clockinator Pro running on different devices at once, Clock Sync will make sure they all have the same face on display (as long as the face has been downloaded to each device). It’s really fun to see it displaying the same exact face on 5 devices at once, with the pendulums and second hands in perfect sync with one another.
iPhone support
Probably the most requested feature of all, Clockinator Pro will finally be available on iPhones! With all of the same features that are on the iPad version, custom tailored for the iPhone screen. Just swipe up in the middle of the screen to get to all of the options and go crazy!
Bug squashing and more
Lots of polish has gone into the app since the version 1.0 release. Optimizations have been made, smoother animations, faster response times, even new animated previews in the gallery have shown up.
We’ve also shipped over a dozen new clock faces since the initial release (even one that is completely free for all you hockey fans). Our current clock face count is 169, with 6 more in the pipeline for the next few weeks. Maybe by the time we release this next version the clock count will be up to 175! A new milestone!
OG Clockinator
The original Clockinator is a digital clock face that hasn’t been updated since 2022. It is being re-done from the ground up with modern frameworks and code. Sometime this fall it will be release as Clockinator3 in the App Store, as a free update. Further, it has hooks in it to support the clock faces from Clockinator Pro so if you buy a clock in either app, you get it in both apps, as long as the face is available in both apps (i.e. it would be hard to tell the time on a digital clock using the “digits” from Ajax, since they are all cuddly teddy bears in space). I’ll be sharing more information about Clockinator3 as the release date gets nearer.
RIP Christmas Clockinator & Halloween Clockinator
Alas, it was fun while it lasted, but the special seasonal Clockinators for Christmas and Halloween have both been retired from the app store. Neither has been updated for several years and it was just time to pull them. The good news is that the clock faces live on! Most are already available in Clockinator Pro and will be made available in Clockinator3 when it ships. If you have purchased either of these apps, send me a screen shot showing their icon on your iPad or iPhone and I’ll make sure you get a code to download the appropriate collection for free.
Team Effort
Again, thanks to everyone who has helped make these things a reality. My artists are still going strong turning in new clock faces every week. We’re constantly coming up with new ideas to implement and are excited that you have joined us on this journey! If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to Contact me. We also post clock faces on Instagram and on TikTok with the name @clockinatorPro.
